Koya Medical was established in 2018 and our multidisciplinary team is headquartered in Oakland, California.
Andy is the founder and CEO of Koya Medical. He also serves on the board of two other healthcare ventures. Previously, he led operations at Oculeve, a revolutionary neuromodulation platform to treat ocular disorders, acquired by Allergan. Prior to that, he developed sight-restoring implants, which have treated more than 6 million patients worldwide, including his dad. The company was acquired by Santen Pharmaceuticals and licensed to Bausch & Lomb (envista IOL). He has deep and wide experience in innovation, technology, and commercialization in healthcare. He received his Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from the School of Medicine at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, M.S. in materials science and engineering from University of Arizona, and Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from University of Madras.
Additionally, Andy enjoys the benefits of meditation & the thrills and agonies of mountaineering. In his off-hours, he enjoys restoring and riding pre-WWII motorcycles. He is also on a quest to climb the tallest mountains in the world, though this has taken a backseat recently to focus on healthcare.
Jarren started his work in Engineering at NASA Ames Research Center developing prototypes for Interplanetary Drilling and Lunar Plant Growth systems. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Master's in Engineering from Stanford University.
Jarren has 10+ years of experience designing hardware and software for novel technologies. His early career began at Oculeve Inc. (acquired by Allergan in 2015) where he developed and scaled the world’s first Class II Intranasal Tear Neurostimulator, TrueTear.
Liesl’s passion is to articulate the clinical value of new technologies and minimize barriers to patient access. Her leadership in market access, health economics and reimbursement has spanned more than two decades in both pharma and the medical device industry. Liesl has held roles at ResMed, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Covidien (now Medtronic), Cordis (formerly J&J) and Eli Lilly & Company.
As Senior Head of Sales, Rick is responsible for building and executing Koya’s go-to-market sales strategy. He joins Koya after serving as Area Sales Director, Central US at PolarityTE (NASDAQ: PTE) where he was part of the leadership / commercial team during the company’s most expansive growth period. Prior to joining PolarityTE, Rick spent over 15 years in the lymphedema and wound care space where he held a number of leadership positions with Wright Therapy Products, BSN Medical, and Galaxy Medical Products.
Connor is a seasoned mechanical engineer with 12 years of experience in the design and manufacture of military, consumer, and medical devices. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech, and has a passion for solving unique, complex challenges that bring value through well-designed products and processes.
Jay is a full-stack software developer with experience ranging across embedded firmware. mobile apps, and backend development. He began working on medical and assistive technology while earning a Master's degree at Georgia Tech and has been enthusiastically building med-tech ever since. Jay and his dog, Ori, are happy to be a part of the Koya Medical team.
With extensive hands-on experience in bringing up Quality Management Systems (QMS) from ground zero, QMS integration, technology transfer, and domestic and international supplier management, Susan has led Quality teams at several medical device start-ups, including one that she co-founded, in obtaining ISO certification and CE Mark approval. Throughout her career, Susan has directed many successful third-party audits (FDA, Notified Bodies, investors), as well as numerous internal and external audits. Susan will work with cross-functional teams to support all phases of product development, clinical studies, regulatory submission, and manufacturing activities. Susan earned an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from U.C. Berkeley and holds an ISO 13485:2016 Lead Auditor Certificate.
Charles is a seasoned executive with wide-range of experiences across Strategy, R&D, and Commercialization. He has held leadership roles in innovative startups and public Fortune 500 life sciences companies. Charles holds an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Virginia. He currently resides in San Francisco, Califorrnia where he regularly hikes with his dog, Wesley.
John has over six years of experience as a biomedical engineer and data scientist. He helped develop innovative technology, which led to several patents, many of which are now utilized by Koya Medical. After founding Compression Kinetics, he continued to work closely with Koya Medical for product development. John presented at SolidWorks World, Musculoskeletal New Ventures Conference, Highway 1 Accelerator, and Zero to 510 Accelerator. He worked full time with Ernst and Young as a data scientist before joining Koya Medical full time. John is married to his wife, Brittany, and they have one dog, James.
Lana is a marketing leader experienced in managing marketing programs and product launches for several startups and companies like Adobe, Microsoft, and Walmart. She has a digital marketing and advertising background and is passionate about creating customer-centric experiences that create awareness, build brand loyalty, and drive conversion.
Stacey has over 30 years of extensive experience in financial management and accounting in commercial industry, medical device manufacturing, and reimbursement. Her experience spans both start-ups with rapid growth and large global corporations. Working for companies such as Cigna, McKesson, and Essity, she has expertise in both DME and pharmacy including revenue cycle management, process flow auditing, insurance contracting, credentialing, DME licensing, accreditation, OIG, Medicare and Compliance. Stacey graduated from Duquesne University with a degree in Business Administration in Accounting and Finance.
Colin Lee is a senior quality engineer. He has over 13 years of experience in the medical device industry and has held positions in various engineering disciplines ranging from manufacturing, R&D, and quality. He has diverse knowledge in operating in ISO 13485 and FDA regulated environments. As a lean practitioner he promotes continuous improvement while ensuring quality, regulatory and safety standards. His hobbies include hiking, reading, 3D printing, and baking.
Alex has been in the regulated industry for over 20 years and in Regulatory Affairs since 2003. He was instrumental in various product approvals that include generic drugs, IVD devices and medical aesthetic devices during his 15-year regulatory tenure working in several companies. In 2018, Alex formed his own consulting company and expanded his product categories to include digital health, wearable devices and implantables. Alex is a Regulatory Advisor for Koya Medical and an angel investor at CG Angels. He holds a MBA at Santa Clara University, a MS in Regulatory Affairs at Northeastern University and a BS at Florida International University.

Josh has spent over 25 years in the healthcare industry working across a broad range of responsibilities and companies ranging from early stage product development and innovation to public offerings, mergers and acquisitions for mature companies. He currently serves as a VenturePartner at SightLine partners. Prior to SightLine, he was a Managing Director at Split Rock Partners. He has been a lead investor and board member in companies with an aggregate, realized value of over $2 billion.
Andy has deep and wide experience in innovation, technology, and commercialization in the healthcare field. He holds a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from the School of Medicine at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, M.S. in materials science and engineering from University of Arizona, and Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from University of Madras.
Jan founded Arboretum Ventures on the premise that innovation is key to delivering value in healthcare, a principle she developed working in the medical device industry for over two decades. Her investments focus on promising medical technologies that enable meaningful healthcare system savings while maintain great clinical outcomes.
Ali has spent over 20 years in the medical technology space leading innovations in home health. She is a co-founder of Inogen, Inc., a leading respiratory technology provider, and has served as their Chief Financial Officer since 2009 and Executive Vice President, Finance since 2014. Ali has also served as Corporate Secretary and Corporate Treasurer since 2002.
Stanley Rockson, MD, FACP, FACC is the Allan and Tina Neill Professor of Lymphatic Research and Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. He serves concurrently as the Stanford’s Chief of Consultative Cardiology and the Director of the Stanford Center for Lymphatic and Venous Disorders. Dr. Rockson is Editor-in-Chief of Lymphatic Research and Biology and sits on the editorial board of Angiology.
Dr. Armer, Ph.D., RN, FAAN is a professor at the MU Sinclair School of Nursing and Director of Nursing Research at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center. In 2000 she was appointed to the Medical Advisory Committee of the National Lymphedema Network (NLN). In 2008, she became the founding director of the American Lymphedema Framework Project.
Dr. Feldman, MD, CLT-LANA is a senior attending physician at NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston, Illinois and is the Director of the Lymphedema Treatment Program. Dr. Feldman is a Senior Clinician Educator, University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He is currently the Co-Director of the American Lymphedema Framework Project, established in 2008, and has been a member of the National Lymphedema Network Medical Advisory Committee since 1998.
Roman Skoracki, MD, is a member of the Cancer Control Program at the OSUCCC – James, where his research focuses on clinical outcomes of breast cancer. Dr. Skoracki is also the division chief of oncologic surgery at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center and also one of the few surgeons who performs the procedure in the United States, about the unique nature of preventive lymphedema-relieving surgery, how it is performed and the potential benefits for patients.
Dr. Vaughan Keeley is a Consultant Physician specializing in Lymphoedema in the UK. He developed the Lymphoedema service in Derby, Nottingham and Mansfield. The service has recently been endorsed by NHS England as a specialist service for pediatric and primary Lymphoedema and is part of VascERN, the European Reference Network for Vascular Rare Diseases. He developed and validated the LYMQOL quality of life tool.
Paula Stewart, MD, is director of Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation at Parkridge Health System. Dr. Stewart is board-certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) and has earned subspecialty board certification in spinal cord injury medicine. In addition, Dr. Stewart has extensive expertise in general physical rehabilitation, neurologic rehabilitation and comprehensive rehabilitation care of patients with cancer and lymphedema.
Jane Wigg, RGN, MSc has been at the forefront of lymphoedema management for over 20 years, commencing one of the first lymphoedema clinics in the UK. In 2002, Jane also commenced the Lymphoedema Training Academy (LTA), as a means of providing quality education in Manual Lymphatic Drainage and other treatments for therapists. She has is also director of LymphVision which provides world-leading NIRF Lymphatic Imaging and has already opened 4 clinics in the UK over the past year.
